NUCLEAR LAB FIRE UPDATE: A fire at the Savannah River National Laboratory in South Carolina triggered a Site Area Emergency yesterday at the DoE complex that once produced materials for nuclear weapons. The blaze led to a SHUTDOWN of air, rail, and ground travel while employees sheltered as a precaution. Firefighters extinguished the fire by evening, and radiological surveys found no detectable contamination. They say operations are back to normal… but it must be somewhat unnerving working in a place that requires closing airspace and ground travel for a minor incident.
