周末期间，强势东北风暴（nor’easter）拍打美国东岸，最峰值时期令10万余个家庭陷入黑暗，数百班航班因此无法正常起飞。
据路透社最新数据显示，至9月26日午后1:07分，新泽西州、康涅狄格州、纽约州及宾夕法尼亚州共计88,000多户仍处于无电状态，虽然较之前的119,000多户已有明显好转。

在上述停电的家庭中，康州、新州以及纽约州受灾最为严重，每个州都有超过25,000个用户断电。仅PSEG Long Island供电公司管辖范围就涉及约13,300户。该公司解释道，暴风导致大量树木连根拔起、枝条折断，电线基础设施也遭毁坏，好在从周五清晨开始，他们已累计为超34,600户恢复了电力。
根据航班监测服务商FlightAware提供的信息，在9月26日这个日期，涉及美国各地机场的航班中，共有大约425班被迫取消，与此同时另有1,338班面临延误。

国家气象部门（National Weather Service）发布警讯，此次强劲东北风暴将对大西洋沿岸的中部地带与新英格兰一带造成严峻考验，包括海岸线附近的洪灾、汹涌激流、狂暴大风与连续雨幕，恶劣天气预计还将肆虐至28日。
面对严峻局势，纽约州和新泽西州的最高领导人在25日相继宣布，受灾最为深重的县级地区（纽约市包含在内）进入应急预警状态，康州领导层也同步开启了州应急指挥中心的运作。
